The project aims to strengthen KTU’s capacity in digital building practices by engaging with leading institutions in the field of energy assessment and sustainability. The project partners have met for a kick-off meeting at KTU University in Kaunas, Lithuania, to plan and coordinate these activities.
The project, funded by the EU, has a budget of €1.49 million. SmartWins brings together five partners: KTU, the Politecnico di Milano University (PoliMi, Italy), the Centre for Research and Technology, Hellas (CERTH, Greece), a spin-off from the Technical University of Berlin, Contecht GmbH (CON, Germany), and Innotrope (France).
The project partners will conduct high quality research on the topic of next generation digital twins, applied to enable the transition to a smart, sustainable, resilient and carbon neutral built environment.
Smartwins will also organise training for KTU students at the partner universities. The project also aims to promote digital tools for improving the energy efficiency of buildings to the general public. In addition, the project partners will share their knowledge and best practices to strengthen KTU’s expertise and international reputation in this field.
