Citizens' event "Smartwins with Digital Twins"
Expand your knowledge and connections by joining us at the « SmartWins with Digital Twins » event
Research activities are the stepping stone to new technology development and implementation. Even though a huge progress was made since Lithuania joined the EU in 2004, scientific activities here are still considered weaker than in majority of other EU countries. To improve this situation KTU Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture launched a new EU funded project “SmartWins” determined to boost the research capacities while exploring the benefits of Digital Twins applications in the Built Environment.
Citizens, civil society and end users plays a crucial role while creating and implementing innovative solutions. Unfortunately, often research and citizen involvement doesn’t go hand-in-hand which leads to a gap between the current solutions and people needs. To bridge this gap we invite you to join us at the event “Smart Wins with Digital Twins” where you will get a chance to learn more about Digital Twins applications in the built environment and most importantly contribute with your ideas on how we could exploit this technology even more effectively!
Regardless if you are representative of a company, municipality or just an interested citizen we are sure that your participation will bring a double-sided benefits, for developing your business and living environment. Digital Twins of buildings and infrastructure objects can help us all to save money, energy, live in healthy and safe environment and much more. Therefore, don’t hesitate and register via link provided below. After the event you will also get a chance to communicate with our team and other participants in an informal environment.
Signed certificates will be issued for all event participants.

Built Environment Digital Twins in Kaunas city
A digital twin is a virtual and synchronized representation of a building. The concept of virtuality refers to a digital model of a building or infrastructure object, which can be created using Building Information Modeling (BIM), reality scanning technologies (lidar, photogrammetry) or the historically well-known CAD technologies. The word „synchronized“ describes dynamics, as the digital twin should be periodically updated. In this case, the digital model of the structure is supplemented by data transmitted from real-time sensors, such as air temperature or humidity, human or traffic flows, sound levels, air quality, video surveillance, etc. This data can be « employed » by artificial intelligence to provide a range of predictions about the ever-changing state of buildings and their environment. In summary, the digital twin can be used for monitoring, making strategic and investment decisions about the development of the built environment, simulating different situations or taking proactive action to manage potential risks.
Digital twins and smart cities
Digital twins are part of Industry 4.0, bringing new technologies to various markets. Build environment is no exception, so we invite you to come and learn about these technologies and share your ideas on how they can work for you!
During the « SmartWins with Digital Twins » event, Andrius Jurelionis, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture at KTU, will share his experience and answer all your questions.
SmartWins project and Digital Twins
The EU-funded SmartWins project opens the door for all citizens to create and develop together, making digitization a reality in the construction sector. During the event, project researcher Paulius Spūdys will tell you more about the project and how it can benefit your work or living environment. Don’t miss the opportunity to take part!

This event is a part of an EU Horizon Europe project “SmartWins” conducted by KTU Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture in collaboration with international partners from Germany, Italy, Greece and France. One of the main aims of this project is to conduct high-quality research on the topic of next generation digital twins, applied for allowing the transition to a smart, sustainable, resilient and carbon neutral built environment.
